PRESS RELEASE 22 FEBRUARY 2021
FROM CHRISTIANIA SHIPPING A/S
Christiania Shipping continues to expand the stainless steel fleet!
Christiania Shipping A/S has entered into a long-term bareboat agreement with Shokuyu Tanker Co., Ltd of Japan regarding charter of M/T Sun Gaia, built at Usuki Shipyard in 2015.
Christiania Shipping A/S will be taking delivery of the vessel in Singapore around March / April 2021. The addition of Sun Gaia, to be renamed “Sigaia Theresa”, is as part of Christiania Shipping’s strategy to expand and renew the fleet.
Sigaia Theresa is a 12,600 dwt stainless steel chemical carrier with 16 segregations, N2 plant and MAN B&W 6S35MC main engine with fixed propeller. The deal was brokered by Maersk Broker, and the vessel will be technically managed by Suntech Ship Management in Mumbai / Singapore.
Axel C. Eitzen, CEO, states:
“This is again a very positive and important step in the continued development of Christiania Shipping, and I am excited and pleased to be expanding the fleet with a modern, high-quality Stainless Steel vessel perfectly suited to accommodate our CoA contracts / Cargo partners.
We are also very pleased to expand our business relations in Japan, for further supporting our industrial strategy in the smaller chemical tankers space”.
